Beautiful Skin Tip #1: You Are What You Eat

A diet that’s rich in the following foods will provide the foundation for a healthy, youthful complexion:

  • Fresh vegetables: leafy greens, summer squash, or avocados
  • Wild fatty fish: salmon or sardines
  • Spices: turmeric or rosemary
  • Low-sugar fruits: berries (which are rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, bioflavonoids, omega-3 healthy fats, and protein)

Specific nutrients associated with skin health include:

  • Vitamin A

  • Omega-3
  • Selenium
  • Lutein

Hydration is an important key to keeping your skin supple and glowing…so do your best to avoid dehydration!

Mild dehydration means that on a cellular level, the skin cells are lacking hydration. Dehydration can show itself in dryness, wrinkling, and thinness of your skin.

Additionally, water brings nutrients to your skin cells. If you are eating a healthy diet, but not drinking enough water, you will not reap the full skin benefits.

By increasing blood flow, exercising helps nourish our skin cells. Blood carries oxygen and vital nutrients to every cell in the body – including our skin cells – and carries away toxins and free-radicals that can keep your skin looking unhealthy. This is just one of the ways exercise helps make you glow!

For best results – I recommend that you carve out some time to exercise for 45 minutes to one hour, at least 3-4 days a week.

Beautiful Skin Tip #5: Sleep Smarter

A lack of sleep can have a profound effect on your skin. We all know how missing out on sleep can make us feel…especially since a lack of sleep affects our skin as well.

Not getting enough sleep accelerates the aging process. When we sleep deeply, we naturally increase the growth hormone that allows skin cells to be repaired. With continual lack of sleep, this process is cumulative, resulting in noticeable signs of skin aging.

Additionally, when we lack sleep, our bodies make more of the stress hormone cortisol.  This can lead to inflammation…while also affecting the appearance and health of our skin.

For best results – I recommend that you aim to get a solid 8 hours of sleep every single night.
